The "Castells"

Culture and Tradition

Come closer to see our traditions, gastronomy, local products and handcrafts, at the same time that you get a taste of the catalonian history.

Valls town is known for being the origin of the famous “Calçotada” (the calçot is a long-shaped sweet onion with a soft texture a that is grilled and you eat it dipped in the typical catalan romesco sauce) This is a typical get-together celebration in winter. Other celebrations of Valls town: "Els tres tombs” (around Sant Antoni day), "La Candela" with a big decennial celebration and “Firagost” also known as Fira del Camp (the country fair).

The "Calçotada"

You can see the human towers called "castells" in almost every town and city  during their main celebrations. In Tarragona for example you can see them during "Santa Tecla".

Agricultural cooperatives

(to 5 km)

From our house we can arrange excursions to visit the nearby cooperatives like La Selva del Camp, Alcover, Valls, Nulles, Lió, Vilarrodona o Bráfim. This is a very important wine and cava producing area and at the same time we can appreciate its peculiar modernist buildings. To stand out we mention the Nulles cooperative also known as one of the Catedrals del Vi (Wine Cathedrals) built by the modernist architect Cèsar Martinell.
